The Volkswagen Crafter is being made available with a hydraulic crane as part of VW’s Engineered to Go conversions programme.
The conversion involves the installation of a Penny Hydraulics PH110, features of which include a crane weight starting from 105kg, a 4.5m boom length, a 990kg max safe working load, 180-330 degree slewing rotation, and a three-year all inclusive warranty.
The conversion comes with built-in safety systems including a notification on the vehicle dashboard if the crane and supports are not stowed correctly, and the horn sounding when battery power falls below set parameters.
Its recognised conversion status means it can be ordered from VW dealerships, and paid for with VW Finance.
Penny Hydraulics sales director Richard Short said: “We’ve been working closely with VW for many years and are excited by this next step in our partnership.
“For a customer to be able to visit a VW dealership and spec a van with a lifting solution off-the-shelf is something that we’ve wanted to achieve for a long time. To be able to offer the first of its kind integration with the vehicle adds yet another level of safety and convenience for drivers and speaks true to Penny Hydraulics’s commitment to safety.”
