Van leasing company Vanarma has leapt up to 18th in the Sunday Times’ 100 Best Small Companies To Work for List in 2017.

Last year, the firm, which has 180 employees, was listed at 26th position in the annual rankings.

The list is put together from answers given by staff members from an anonymous survey and takes into account opinions on bosses, working conditions and employers’ values.

Vanarama’s CEO, Andy Alderson, was also named as the 2017 ‘Best Leader’ for small businesses by the newspaper.

“I’ve always believed that if you look after your people, the rest will take care of itself. That these awards are based on the opinions of my staff makes me especially proud – both of them and the business we are building together,” he said.

The company recently moved into a new £5m office building in Hemel Hempstead, and Alderson said the new office will enable the business to take “several large steps in quick succession.”
