Van drivers feel uninformed about the upcoming EU referendum, new research has claimed.
According to Mercedes-Benz Vans, a quarter of Brits who drive a van for a living said they don’t feel confident enough in their knowledge to know to vote, while 29% said they are unsure if Britain leaving the EU will have an impact on their business.
Meanwhile, the poll also found that 58% of van drivers believe the EU imposes too many rules on businesses, with a fifth of respondents saying they were concerned that working hours would increase if the UK leaves the EU.
“The nation’s van drivers support the foundations of this country, so their unease in knowing which way to vote is a big indicator of the uncertainties facing the UK public as a whole,” said Steve Bridge, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Vans. “Our research highlights real concerns from van drivers, which need to be addressed by both the Vote Leave and Stronger In campaigns.”
“When you then factor in that the UK is in a ‘technical’ recession, but has also measured growth, it is no wonder that van drivers feel unsure of what to do for the best,” he added.
