{mosimage}Supplied by Ford dealer Gordons of Bolton, the eco Transits will boost the green credentials of Speedy’s fleet of 2000 vehicles – all of which bear the blue oval badge.

Ian Leonard, Speedy’s transport and logistics director, said: “We have set an ambitious target for the reduction of the company’s carbon footprint and we believe that the Ford Transit Econetic’s impressive environmental performance will help us achieve that.”

He added that if the initial batch of 19 Transit Econetics passed muster in terms of their environmental and economic performance then others would follow them onto the fleet.

The Econetic is powered by a 2.2-litre TDCi 115hp engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. It features optimized engine mapping, longer gearing, aerodynamic wheel covers and a shift indicator.

It achieves a claimed 189g/km CO2 emissions figure and combined cycle fuel consumption of 39.2mpg.
