Construction company Tarmac is said to have achieved a 30% fuel economy improvement from its fleet, having installed a combined solution of Geotab telematics and Motormax cameras.
The new set-up is covering more than 2,000 Tarmac vehicles, including vans and pick-ups as well as trucks and plant equipment.
As well as the fuel savings, the first three months of operation are also said to have seen a 25% reduction in speeding violations.
The system’s real-time monitoring capabilities provide immediate feedback on driver behaviour, while risk benchmarking offers comprehensive evaluations of driver performance.
Geotab and Motormax have now been named as preferred suppliers for Tarmac’s parent company CRH Group.
Tarmac head of category management and SRM Lee Green said: “Given the fragmented geography that Tarmac operates across, often in remote locations, finding a partner that could cope with this and invest the time, effort and flexibility into a successful implementation was essential.
“Both Geotab and Motormax have worked hard with the Tarmac teams, showing resilience in making the rollout a success.”
Geotab associate vice president Aaron Jarvis said: “Partnering with Tarmac and Motormax on this project has been a fantastic example of what’s possible when relevant experience, technology, teamwork, and a shared commitment to safety come together.
“From day one, our goal was to deliver more than just data – we wanted to provide actionable insights that drive behavioural change and operational improvement. Seeing measurable results in fuel efficiency, idling reduction and driver safety within such a short timeframe proves the power of an integrated, connected fleet ecosystem.
“We’re proud to support Tarmac on its journey toward a more efficient, safer and sustainable fleet – and we are truly excited to extend that impact further across the CRH Group.”
