Recession blamed as Budget pushed back to April
The 2009 Budget has been delayed until 22 April, its latest date since Gordon Brown’s first Budget in 1997. The late arrival of this year’s statement, due to be delivered to the House of Commons by Alistair Darling, has been put back beyond Parliament’s Easter break and into the new tax year.
