Cash management company Pivotal is rolling out Trakm8’s RH600 Telematics Integrated Camera throughout its 130-strong van fleet.

The fleet-wide roll-out follows a successful trial of the technology at Pivotal’s Birmingham depot, one of seven in its network across the UK and Ireland.

The pilot scheme, with vehicle connected data, is said to have helped Pivotal make significant savings on both mileage and labour across its fleet, with the system’s optimisation function – an intuitive route planning algorithm – helping the depot reduce fuel spend by 15%.

Pivotal CEO Ronan Harper said: “It’s no understatement to say that our fleet is the lifeblood of our business, so ensuring our drivers have all the support they need to work as safely and efficiently as possible is absolutely paramount to our wider success.

“I’d long been aware of the impact vehicle technology could have on fleet operations, but knew how important it was to invest in a solution that was the best fit for Pivotal. I knew whatever system we chose would need to go beyond just telematics; it would have to sit at the heart of a wholesale cultural change for our business.

“With Trakm8, we’ve found something that delivers just that. As demonstrated in the trial at our Birmingham branch, the RH600 doesn’t just deliver excellent return on investment – it ensures buy-in from our drivers too.

“The results of our initial trials have been incredibly encouraging and we’re currently in the process of rolling out the RH600 across our wider fleet. I know it’s crucial to ensure our drivers are engaged with the system as early as possible, so we’re using the RH600 to help launch a Driver Leaderboard, linked to our internal rewards programme, to celebrate the best of the best across our group. We hope it inspires some friendly competition.”
