Renault has opened orders for its new Trafic E-Tech electric medium van.

The model is available with a single Advance trim level, but there is a choice of two body lengths (5.08 and 5.48 metres) and two heights (1.967 and 2.498 metres). This means load spaces ranging from 5.8m3 to 8.9m3, with a maximum payload of 1,222kg and a towing capacity of up to 920kg.

A 52kWh battery means a range of up to 186 miles on the official WLTP cycle, while 50kW DC charging compatibility allows a full battery recharge in one hour.

Standard equipment includes an 8in touchscreen, a 7in driver display, wireless smartphone integration with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, full LED headlights with C-shaped DRLs, heated and electrically-adjustable door mirrors, a height adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar adjustment and armrest, air conditioning with pollen filter, and a ‘Mobile Office’ set-up with folding middle passenger seat.

Standard driver assistance systems include rear parking sensors, cruise control with speed limiter, intelligent speed assist, active emergency braking, tyre pressure warning, lane departure warning, and driver attention alert and drowsiness warning.

Prices for the Trafic E-Tech start at £34,500, excluding VAT and including the UK Government’s Plug-in Van Grant, for a short-wheelbase, low-roof model. This rises to £35,250 for a long-wheelbase, low-roof van, and to £36,250 for long-wheelbase, high-roof.

The first deliveries are expected from September.
