Nissan has introduced a new Crew Van version of its Townstar compact van.

The variant is based on the L2 body style, and is being offered with a choice of petrol and electric powertrains.

The petrol version has a 1.3-litre, 130hp engine, while the electric version features a 122hp motor, and a 45kWh battery allowing a range of up to 162 miles on the official WLTP combined cycle. A 15-80% battery charge is possible in 37 minutes with 80kW rapid DC charging, while AC charging can be carried out at speeds up to 22kW.

A folding second row of seats allows the van’s load area capacity to be extended to 3.1m3. With these seats in place, an integrated bulkhead allows protection from shifting loads.

Payload capacity is up to 750kg, and braked towing capacity is 1,500kg.

Technology included with the Townstar Crew Van includes wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, all-round parking sensors, a reversing camera, intelligent speed assist with traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, blind spot detection, and intelligent emergency braking.

Prices for the Townstar Crew Van start at £26,125 excluding VAT.
