Nexus Vehicle Rentals has supplied more than 500 vehicles to supermarket chain Morrisons to meet increased demand for home deliveries during the coronavirus crisis.

The retailer needed to rapidly scale-up its fleet, requiring a large volume of vehicles to be delivered to its stores nationwide within a short space of time.

Due to the breadth of its supply chain, Nexus claims it was able to source the vehicles and agree a fulfilment plan with Morrisons within 24 hours of contact.

Lindsay Prescott, procurement manager at Morrisons, said: “In order to support our most vulnerable customers during this difficult time, Morrisons launched the Doorstep Delivery service, enabling our store Community Champions to deliver essential shopping to the customer’s door.

“In order to achieve this we urgently needed vans, and Nexus provided us with first class service to help turn this around in record time.”

David Brennan, Nexus Vehicle Rental boss, says the onset of the pandemic has led to essential services in a variety of industries urgently requiring flexible mobility solutions to serve communities across the country.

“Morrisons needed a rental supplier that could source and secure a large number of vans to add to its fleet, which Nexus was able to fulfil at short notice,” said Brennan. “For those retailers, couriers, logistics and utilities companies needing to rapidly scale-up operations whilst mitigating costs, the options available through vehicle rental provide a timely, practical, cost-effective solution, enabling businesses to keep moving in these difficult times.”
