Facilities company Mitie has added its 6,000th EV to its fleet.

The Volkswagen ID. Buzz was unveiled by Minister for the Future of Roads Lilian Greenwood in Westminster.

It is the first EV to be deployed with Mitie’s electrical engineering business, ESM Power, and will support engineers working on grid projects across the country, covering an average of 200 miles per day.

Mitie has now electrified 73% of its fleet, and is aiming to reach net zero carbon emissions in its operations by the end of 2025.

Mitie chief legal officer Peter Dickinson said: “Reaching our 6,000th EV is a momentous achievement, and having added over 2,000 EVs to our fleet since the start of 2024, we are making rapid progress on our journey to reaching a zero-emission fleet.

“It was an honour to be joined by the Future of Roads Minister to mark this milestone. Our transition continues to accelerate, and we already have our sights set on reaching 7,000.”
