Supermarket chain Tesco has added a landmark Iveco eDaily to its delivery fleet.
The new van is the 1.8 millionth Daily produced at Iveco’s Suzzara plant in Mantua, Italy, and becomes one of 571 electric vans now on Tesco’s fleet.
It features a refrigerated Solomon Commercials body, which uses 15kW of ePTO onboard power to cool perishable goods while on deliveries, while a second 12V e-PTO provides low-voltage power for additional cooling from a GAH Transport Refrigeration fridge.
Tesco fleet manager Rob Smallwood said: “We’ve committed to moving towards a fully electric home delivery fleet across the UK by 2030. Taking delivery of Iveco’s 1.8 millionth eDaily will help us get closer towards reaching our commitment to be carbon neutral in our own operations by 2035.”
Iveco business line director full range UK and Ireland Mike Cutts said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Iveco Daily, and one that highlights how this mission-focused vehicle is delivering for its operators.
“Tesco has been a longstanding Daily customer, with a new fleet of eDaily providing the same mission capability without compromise.”
