BDO LLP business restructuring partners Paul Bates and Graham Newton have been appointed joint administrators of the group, which operated from outlets in Boston, Hull, Killinghome, Lincoln and York.

H&L ceased trading this month and BDO, which is seeking a buyer for the assets of the business, said 176 of the firm’s 194 employees had been made redundant.

Bates said: “Unfortunately the economic climate and difficult trading conditions adversely affected the business. The joint administrators are taking all necessary steps to mitigate risks to stakeholders and will seek to maximize recoveries for creditors.”

Mercedes said it would work with the administrators to ensure customers receive uninterrupted service and to assist staff who wish to remain within its network to find new jobs.
