Under the DriveAway Options programme, customers will be able to choose from a selection of conversion-ready dropside, tipper and Luton vans displayed on dealership forecourts.

The manufacturer said it was introducing the scheme in response to customer demand and in preparation for the full implementation of the European Whole Vehicle Type Approval legislation, which become mandatory for New Type LCVs in October 2011 and will become mandatory for Existing Type LCVs in April next year.

The adoption of the regulation is expected to dramatically reduce the number of commercial vehicle body builders operating in the UK.

Marta Nappo, Iveco’s marketing director, said: “The DriveAway scheme will enable customers to get conversions on the road quickly.”

The manufacturer claimed it is currently assessing offers from nine body builders that could potentially partner it in the DriveAway scheme.

It said a key benefit to customers would be reduced delivery times, lower costs and higher residual values as a result of dealing with one point of sale, the Iveco dealership, rather than co-ordinating between two or more suppliers.

All vehicles purchased through the DriveAway initiative will come with a three year/unlimited mileage warranty covering both chassis and body.
