Used for weekly kitchen waste and cardboard kerbside collections, the newcomers are all Forward N75.190s equipped with Isuzu’s Easyshift semi-automatic transmission. They’ve been specially modified with a reduced wheelbase of 2.85m to make it easier for the drivers to gain access to the rear entrances of certain residential properties.

Each vehicle is fitted with onboard weighing equipment sourced from P M Onboard and a vertical exhaust. Payload capacity is just over two tonnes thanks to the lightness of the truck’s chassis.

Set to remain with the authority for five years or more, the Isuzus are based at the main Blaenau Gwent Council depot in Brynmawr. They’re working on daily routes that cover a 35-mile radius and include Ebbw Vale, Tredegar and Abertillery as well as Brynmawr itself.
