The UK Government needs to act on electric van adoption if it is to meet its decarbonisation targets, the BVRLA has said.
The rental and leasing industry body has issued its response to the government’s current consultation on its ZEV mandate.
The BVRLA said that removing regulatory barriers presented an easy-to-implement, inexpensive solution that could bring tens of thousands of electric vans to UK roads during the next few years.
The organisation, which has also called for action to boost the rental and used EV markets, said its consultation response followed an extensive dialogue with its members, government officials, and a host of industry representatives and bodies.
BVRLA chief executive Toby Poston said: “The long-awaited consultation on the ZEV mandate provides a valuable opportunity for the government to realign its aims with the realities seen in the market.
“The targets are at major risk unless the policymakers deliver a comprehensive set of measures to drive long-term demand.”
