But that was the surprise in store for us in our long-term D-max Yukon when a strip of scrap metal pierced the sidewall of the rear nearside tyre and forced us off the road.
This was all the more frustrating because our D-max doesn’t come with a spare tyre. A long search eventually unearthed a foam-spray repair kit underneath a rear passenger seat, but we suspected this would not be adequate to get us mobile – a suspicion confirmed when, following a call to Isuzu Assistance, an AA officer arrived and pronounced the tyre “irreparable”.
At 6.30pm the only option was  to call a mobile tyre replacement service. Two hours and £280.00 later, we were back on the road.
