Two electric vans appeared in Aston Barclay’s LCV desirability index for the very first time in September.
The Ford E-Transit topped the list while the Maxus eDeliver 5 appeared in eighth place as the value for money offered by electric vans appears too good to miss for dealers and their SME customers.
Ford dominated September’s index with five LCVs, four vans and one pick up, with medium and large panel vans making up the lion’s share of the table. Four pick-ups also appeared in the top 15 with the Toyota Hilux at number two the most highly rated model.
The used LCV market remains very fragmented as reported in June 2024 with lots of different models in the mix based on their value in the current market rather than buyers chasing the most fashionable vehicles.
However, in August and September demand and prices have started to slowly improve after months of the used LCV market being in the doldrums.
Prices seem to have stabilised and are back to pre-Covid levels which is another reason SMEs have started to replace their current vehicle or extend their fleet with another used LCV.
“The used LCV market surprised everyone when it sprang into life in late summer
when traditionally it is quiet. This has injected some confidence into a market which had been depressed for a number of months,” explained Nick Thompson, Aston Barclay’s chief customer officer.
“Another surprise was that a couple of electric vans appeared in our September index. Electric vans look very good value now and for operators who work in a lower mileage back-to-base environment they represent an attractive option,” he added.
Aston Barclay’s monthly desirability index takes into consideration three key metrics: web views prior to sale, number of physical and online sale bids, and sale price achieved as a percentage of CAP average.
