Thirteen LDV Maxus light commercials equipped to drain vehicle tanks when motorists have put in the wrong fuel are in operation with the AA's new Fuel Assist service. Short-wheelbase 3.2-tonners, they're each equipped with a 330-litre fuel tank, two electric pumps and earthing reels, all sourced from Whale Tankers. Sortimo has supplied the load area racking.
“Our research shows that in 2006 150,000 motorists experienced the inconvenience and expense of having to have a fuel tank drained as a consequence of mis-fuelling,” says AA technical performance manager, Donald MacSporran. “That encouraged us to develop this new service for the public.”
