There are now more vans on BVRLA members’ fleets than ever before, the rental and leasing organisation has said.
Newly-released figures show that there was a 4.3% rise in van fleet size in the first quarter of 2021, taking the total number on fleet to 440,502.
The BVRLA attributed the growth to increasing demand during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a growing requirement for home delivery and mobile services.
In addition, it said the roll-out of clean air zones to major cities could drive further growth due to businesses needing newer, cleaner vehicles.
The overall size of the BVRLA fleet was up by 1.3%, with a 0.4% growth in car fleet numbers.
BVRLA chief executive Gerry Keaney said: “The leasing sector continues to remain resilient in the wake of the global pandemic, with a pattern of growth feeding a sense of optimism amongst members.
“They are making great strides in electrifying their fleets to give customers access to affordable and sustainable vehicles.”
