The Mercedes-Benz Citan is the van that can cover the greatest distance on a single tank of fuel, according to Confused.com.
It says that the diesel Citan can cover 831 miles between fill-ups, 123 miles more than the second-placed van in its research, the Volkswagen Transporter, with a 708-mile range.
Third place went to the Nissan NV200, with 701 miles.
The research also found that the Citan had the best range for a petrol van, with that version able to cover 611 miles, ahead of the Ford Transit Connect on 580 miles, and the Volkswagen Caddy on 541 miles.
As for electric vans, the Iveco Daily Electric was found to go furthest on a single charge, at 174 miles, ahead of 120 miles for the LDV EV80, and 118 miles for the Nissan E-NV200.
Confused.com van insurance expert Daniel McCulloch said: “With so many choices of vans on the market, knowing the best for your needs can make making a decision confusing and overwhelming.
“For those conscious of the running costs, fuel efficiency is a key consideration to avoid forking out hundreds per year extra on petrol or diesel.”
