Heavy-duty truck and bus manufacturer MAN has appointed Ralf Schueler as its marketing director ahead of the launch of the TGE LCV in 2017.
The TGE will be based on the next-generation Volkswagen Crafter van, and is set to unveiled at the Hannover Commercial Vehicle Show in September.
The new Crafter is an exclusively VW-produced product, built at the firm’s purpose-built plant in Poland.
The current generation Crafter is based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and built at Merc’s plants in Dusseldorf and Ludwigsfelde in Germany.
MAN is 75% owned by VW and the brand said the addition of the TGE will enable it to compete in markets spanning from 3.0- to 44.0- tonnes.
Schueler spent 13 years at Audi and VW Commerical Vehicles in a number of roles, before spending the last eight years as a marketing director for Akzo Nobel Automotive and Aerospace Coatings.
“There is huge potential to grow and I know I am building on an already very strong platform,” he said.
“The launch of the exciting new van will bring more to our range, and I will be drawing on my experience of the commercial vehicle market with this upcoming development,” he added.
