Mitsubishi has revealed a production version of its new pick-up truck in Thailand that is likely to form the basis for the next generation L200, which will be launched in the UK in 2015.
Although the Triton is tailored for Far Eastern markets and Mitsubishi UK could not confirm whether the European version would change in appearance, it would be a surprise if it did not bear more than a passing resemblance to the forthcoming L200.
The new Triton is powered by a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel engine and offered with six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission.
The manufacturer said the pick-up will be available in three bodystyles – single cab, extended cab and double cab.
The brand claimed it has improved refinement and comfort levels and added that the new model would appeal to customers as a dual-purpose working and family vehicle.
Mitsubishi has struck a deal with Fiat Professional that will see the Italian manufacturer introduce a pick-up truck in 2016 based on the next generation L200.
