All three models result from a co-operative agreement between the manufacturers and share the same DNA but wear the badges of their respective brands.
Vauxhall’s plant in Luton currently makes the Vivaro, the Trafic and a small number of Primastars but when the replacements go into production next year Luton will retain the Vivaro while the Trafic will switch to Renault’s factory in Sandouville, France.
These models will come to market in 2014 but Nissan has not yet set a date for the launch of its new medium van, which it will build at its facility in Barcelona.
However, Thomas Ebeling, product strategy and planning boss, said: “In terms of emissions and driveline it will be up to date.”
A spokesman for Nissan added that the manufacturer has recently delivered 160 Primastar vans to the British Gas fleet.
Nissan’s large van the NV400, which is marketed by Vauxhall as the Movano and by Renault as the Master, was also the last of the three to go on sale when it arrived in showrooms last year.
