The Fuelcard Company has claimed its Diesel Advance card will revolutionise the transport sector by allowing users to “pay as you go” via advance online top-ups made with a credit or debit card or weekly direct debit.
According to the Fuelcard Company, a large number of companies are unable to pass credit checks to obtain traditional fuel cards with appropriate limits leaving them without access to driver monitoring information and missing out on crucial fuel savings.
The firm said the pre-paid Diesel Advance card eliminates the need for pre- qualification credit checks, thus opening up the benefits to all business customers. It claimed the card’s weekly fixed price, based on the bulk fuel market, would be lower than national pump prices “nine times out of 10”. The only other fee is an annual card charge of £12.
Operating through the Keyfuels network, which includes Tesco and Morrisons, the card is accepted at 1700 fuel stations nationwide.
An automated email alert reminds users when their balance drops to 25%, 15% and 0% of their estimated weekly volume.
Colin Peters, the Fuelcard Company’s marketing boss, said the initiative would enable more businesses to benefit from the tighter spending controls that fuel cards provide.
“Diesel Advance is the first card of its kind in the UK,” he said. “We’re anticipating a substantial uptake and working with a new customer base, from the sole trader white van man to multinational haulage operators. The card is available to anyone with the £50 minimum top-up amount.”
Pre-pay fuel card launched for fleets
One of the UK’s major commercial fuel card resellers is claiming to have broken new ground by introducing a pre-pay fuel card.
