UK new LCV registrations rose by 10.5% year-on-year in November, with demand for all types of vans increasing.
Figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that the 2.5-3.5t van segment saw 13.5% year-on-year growth, with 20,504 registrations.
Vans weighing 2.0-2.5t were up by 9.8% to 4,999, and vans weighing less than 2.0t shot up by 128.6%, with 999 registered.
Registrations of 4x4s were up by 33.4%, to 786 – however, pick-up truck registrations fell by 20.4%, to 3,012, with the SMMT saying it urged the government to reconsider pending changes to the way these vehicles are taxed.
Electric LCV registrations rose by 31.9%, taking 7.1% of the overall market.
SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said: “The UK light commercial vehicle market continues to build back after a challenging start to the year, delivering the best performance since 2021 and the unleashing of pent-up demand.
“Britain’s appetite for zero emission vans continues to lag behind government ambition, however, and market share this year is heading in the wrong direction.
“With warnings over UK competitiveness now translating into tangible impacts, a fast-tracked review of market regulation is essential to ensure manufacturers can deliver the choice, growth and decarbonisation the nation needs.”
The Ford Transit Custom topped the November LCV registrations chart with 4,335, ahead of the Ford Transit with 3.360, and the Vauxhall Vivaro with 2,635.
Completing the top ten were the Ford Ranger (1,683), Vauxhall Combo (1,416), Mercedes-Benz Sprinter (1,353), Renault Trafic (1,178), Citroen Berlingo (1,011), Peugeot Expert (861), and Ford Transit Courier (808).
