Deliveries are the cornerstone of retail, whether that be from an independent retailer delivering a handmade trinket to your door, or an enormous warehouse sending pallets of goods to a supermarket; which is why this quarter’s What Van? IVECO Daily Mission Awards is championing innovative delivery vehicles. This category has brought us some fantastic entries, with reliability, comfort, payload and more under the spotlight. The DNA of the IVECO Daily has been put to the test in this shortlist.

CBL (Clive Barford Limited) – Hendy

Construction sites aren’t famed for pristine roads or masses of room to manoeuvre a vehicle. Getting a vehicle onto site is great, getting it out again is even better. It’s a challenge that CBL – the country’s leading compact equipment specialists – have solved with their fleet of 12 7.2t IVECO Dailys.

Featuring a 3.0l 210hp engine, 8-speed Hi-Matic automatic transmission and sleek beavertail, these Dailys were made to haul equipment exceeding 4t to sites across the country, whist maintaining the mobility, comfort and running costs of a van.

Each Daily is equipped with IVECO’s Business Trimline, providing manual air conditioning, cruise control and heated and adjustable mirrors. AirPro height adjustable rear suspension allows for safe and easy loading and unloading, while the cross axle differential lock minimises the safety and financial risks of being stuck on a work site.

If that wasn’t enough, the 7.2t Daily has vastly improved fuel and CO2 efficiency compared to other 7.5t options. The lightweight body increases payload and fuel efficiency, whilst using high quality and durable materials ensures a longer lifespan with minimal future repairs needed. A 3XL Repair and Maintenance package, helps maintain a focus on Total Cost of Ownership.

Supplied to CBL by Hendy Van & Truck, these vans truly showcase the capabilities of the IVECO Daily.

Collins Sea Food – North East Truck & Van

We all love fish and chips. It’s a British classic and the basis for our second shortlisted entry into this category. Collins Seafood keeps the nation’s chippies afloat by supplying fresh, high-quality fish, with its fleet of 14 7.2t IVECO Dailys freezer box vans.

The 3,750mm wheelbase chassis houses a manual gearbox coupled to a 3.0l 180hp engine that cover circa 30,000 miles per year.

That’s a lot of miles, so driver comfort is key – which is why Collins Seafood has opted for IVECO’s Winter Pack, providing a heated windscreen, night heater, automatic wipers and headlight controls. On the topic of extras, these vans are also fitted with Traction Plus, Hill Descent, Crosswind Assist and a Tyre Pressure Warning System to cope with every condition UK roads throw at them.

But how does the fish arrive as fresh as the moment it was caught? The box freezer keeps goods cold and fresh from the first to last mile of the journey. Supplied by Solomon Commercials, the lightweight, heavy duty fibreglass body provides durability while allowing as weight free for a full payload.

Collins Seafood also has IVECO’s 3-year unlimited mileage warranty and the 24-hour servicing available at the supplying dealer North East Truck & Van helps to keep its fleet operating at maximum capacity all year-round. Collins has already placed orders for the MY24 Daily vans, expected to arrive early next year.

Warburtons – Walton Summit

Our final entry for this quarter’s Daily Mission Awards comes from family baker, Warburtons. To say these vans are well decked out would be an understatement. Transitioning from a fleet of 7.5t trucks to eight brand new 7.2t Dailys, Warburtons has improved its TCO without sacrificing payload, and has a further seven vans on the way in 2025; courtesy of IVECO dealer Walton Summit.

Let’s start with the outside: a 4,750mm chassis is home to a Hi-Matic gearbox, AirPro suspension, cross axle diff, 500kg Dhollandia hydraulic column lift and an all-important bread box. Supplied by Fosters Commercials, the 5m box body is made of 14mm lightweight GRP panels, with steel drop wells, and “Bakers Doors”. Inside, you’ll find LED lighting, anti-slip flooring and aluminium shelving to house baked products. The exterior is fitted with a rear camera system for security and outside work lights and front and rear strobe lighting.

The driver experience is A-list class, thanks to electric heated and adjustable mirrors, air conditioning and a suspended seat to reduce driver fatigue. Features such as automatic headlights and wipers, adaptive cruise control with queue assist and full LED headlights bolster vehicle safety.

Polished off with Warburton’s striking orange livery, these vans act as a high impact mobile advertising boarding, and the Mission Awards judges were impressed to see such attention to detail.
